Southcentral celebrates the 4th of July

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Looking for parades or fireworks in your area this Independence Day? Here’s a small sampling of this year’s Fourth of July events in Southcentral.

Anchorage

The Fourth of July celebration parade is held at the Delaney Park Strip at 10 a.m. After the parade, the Park Strip’s carnival rides, vendors, food and live music will continue the celebration until 6 p.m.

Mulcahy Stadium will host the annual Glacier Pilots-Bucs Alaska Baseball League doubleheader. The games will start at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Fireworks begin after the second game.

Eagle River

The Eagle River Lions Club 3rd of July Extravaganza runs from 6 p.m. until midnight on Wednesday. They have live music, food trucks, a bouncy house and a fireworks show as the calendar flips to Thursday. The event is free, and parking is $5.

Wasilla

The Wasilla parade starts at 11 a.m. at Wasilla High School before cruising through downtown. The Mayor’s Picnic will be held at Iditapark (at the intersection of Lucille and Nelson Avenues) with free food and drinks and live music.

Seward

The Seward Boat Parade will begin on Wednesday at Seward Harbor & Waterfront Park at 11 p.m. Fireworks will begin at midnight.

The Fourth of July Parade begins downtown at 1 p.m.

The annual Mount Marathon races begin at 9 a.m. with the youth race. The starter’s gun goes off at 11 a.m. for the men, and 2 p.m. for the women.

Homer

The “Historical Homer” Fourth of July parade will be at 3 p.m. and travels from Homer High School and down Pioneer Avenue.
